Incredible Edibles is a healthy eating initiative for Primary School pupils. It encourages schools across the country to get busy growing carrots, lettuce, potatoes, strawberries, turnips and herbs. Schools are supplied with grow packs containing everything they need to grow a veritable feast of healthy foods!
On this site you can download curriculum linked activity sheets, log book, a growing planner and you will also find growing videos to help you get set up. Everything that's needed to learn about where food comes from and the importance of fruit, vegetables and potatoes is also available to download.
Meet the Incredible Edible Team:
Incredible Edibles School of the Week!
School:Saint Brendan's BNS County: Dublin Teacher:Ms. Niamh O'Connell Class Level:Room 9a Description:We began by discussing food and it's origin, this brought up some very interesting ideas including what category would we put vanilla pods in! We also got to try our teacher's vegetable box that she gets delivered each week. All of the fruit and vegetables are organic and they tasted delicious. This week we got to plant our strawberries, potatoes and seeds. our teachers and SNA planted theirs too. We love the watering can tops for our water bottles. We are focusing on recycling this year and were delighted to see a way to reuse our single use plastic bottles.
Healthy Eating week will take place May 20th - May 24th 2019 and relates to Task 5 in the logbook. As part of this week, students should record their daily intake of potatoes, fruits and vegetables to complete this task.
